Born and raised in Pawling, NY, a love of snowboarding and the mountain lifestyle brought him to Colorado, where he’s found his people and his place. He brings a strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, and a genuine passion for hospitality to the Pinnacle Lodging team. When he’s not ensuring every last detail is taken care of, you’ll find him chasing powder days, fishing, or exploring the mountains, lakes, and rivers he calls home.

Riese Thornton

Originally from a small farm in Indiana, Riese brings a strong hospitality background and an easy, people-focused approach to her work. When she’s not at work, she’s snowboarding, hiking 14ers, drawing portraits of her friends, or spending time with her family who are also avid skiers. She’s passionate about traveling and believes her best experiences, and best friendships, have come from exploring new places, a curiosity she carries into everything she does.

McKenna Orr

Born and raised in Summit County, McKenna Orr brings an adaptable, curious, and positive energy to everything she does. Outside of work, she loves skiing, practicing yoga, and has recently picked up knitting as a new creative hobby. A former rugby player with a spirit for adventure, McKenna hopes to one day hike Machu Picchu—and she’s excited to be part of The Pinnacle Companies’ vibrant, community-driven culture.

Danielle Sample

Originally hailing from Southeast Michigan, Danielle is an adventure-seeker who thrives in all seasons. When winter arrives, you’ll find Danielle shredding the slopes on her snowboard. Come summer, she is either ripping through trails on her dirt bike or soaking up the sun by the water. Danielle’s free time is all about enjoying life with her adventure dog, Josie, whether it’s exploring the mountains, having game nights, or sharing good food with family and friends. A fun fact: Danielle’s first pet was a pygmy goat named Billy, who even made a guest appearance in her 1st-grade class! One of her top bucket list goals is to hike and snowboard the Dolomites.

Charles Schaefer

Growing up in Colorado, Charles learned how to ski while still in diapers. He went to high school at Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota, then to Western Michigan University where he graduated with a degree in Technical Production & Design. Charles moved to Summit County in 2013 to become a ski bum, while working at Breck for 5 years as a Guest Service Supervisor, then 5 years as a manager at Target before joining Pinnacle. You can find Charles on the mountain in winter and summer, often with his dog, skiing, camping, or hiking.

Katherine Furman

Katherine was born and raised as a “Yooper” in the mitten’s state most desolate area, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Desiring to experience more than her home town’s below-zero temperatures one half of the year and wooded swamps infested with the gnarliest mosquitoes the other half of the year, Katherine often found herself traveling to explore new areas of the U.P. and the neighboring states every free day she had; so after hearing about Summit County from her high school best friend who had just moved there in 2015, it was no surprise that Colorado became an interest for Katherine. Within the next two weeks, Katherine had secured housing and a job in Keystone and moved to Summit County “just for the winter season”. Driven by her adventurous soul, Katherine has now been living in Colorado ever since and has been exploring and enjoying everything outdoors this great state has to offer. In her free time, you can find Katherine with her dog hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and simply loving the mountain life.
